Biology

A Pigmasphere's body consists primarily of fibrous, thread-like strands, typically clumped together, and special glands that produce a paint-like substance. To protect their frail body, Pigmaspheres use their paint to create a spherical shell, although they leave openings in their shells so they can use their thread clumps as limbs.

Pigmaspheres are a colonial species, typically traveling in groups called Pigmalettes. A Pigmalette is formed when individual Pigmaspheres intertwine their threads, forming a collective consciousness. Of course, a Pigmasphere must remain connected to the rest of the Pigmalette to remain a part of the hive mind.

Most Pigmalettes are formed from six Pigmaspheres: two acting as hands, two as feet, one for the chest and one as the head. Naturally, exceptions exist: Only two Pigmaspheres are needed to form a Pigmalette, and the largest recorded Pigmalette consists of over one hundred Pigmaspheres.

Each Pigmasphere produces only a single color of paint. Members of a Pigmalette, however, often share their different colors, and sometimes mix their paints to access a wider variety of colors.

Recommended uses

Pigmaspheres' main offensive tactic is creating "explosive" balls of paint. Although these paintballs do little actual damage, they still have enough concussive force to be dangerous.

Whenever a Pigmalette, or even a lone Pigmasphere, fights, the battlefield almost always gets covered in paint. This is considered an annoyance by many, although Pigmaspheres are often able to turn this to their advantage. Pigmaspheres are known to throw paint in their opponent's eyes, temporarily blinding them; similar tactics can leave stealth-based enemies exposed. Also, Pigmasphere paint is very slippery, giving land-bound species (Kinecelerans and other super-speed aliens in particular) trouble moving across the field.

Although they usually prefer to act as one, a Pigmalette will split into its component Pigmaspheres if necessary. This makes a Pigmalette good at multitasking, although the Pigmaspheres may not always cooperate when separated.

Ultimate evolution

After evolving, a Pigmasphere tends to build up large quantities of paint inside their shell. These buildups are not harmful, and Pigmaspheres can release all this paint in a high-pressure stream or a single, large explosion. Strangely, such an explosion does not appear to damage the Pigmasphere's shell.

An evolved Pigmasphere's paint contains a special enzyme that can temporarily animate the paint. The results could very from an army of tiny, hopping paint drops to a large "rainbow-colored" beast several stories tall. All such beings are completely loyal to the Pigmalette that made them, although they may not always be as efficient as their creator would like.

Another chemical in the paint is able to harden a Pigmasphere's threads. Some Pigmaspheres utilize this by crafting swords or lances out of their limbs.
Paintbomb is one of my most recent "Omnitrix originals," and probably my oddest - and corniest - form yet! And just for the record: Paintbomb isn't part of the "core team," as far as my homemade aliens are concerned. Instead, he's one of the "unlockables," much like Cannonbolt and Rath.

It's worth mentioning that Paintbomb started as a joke character. The joke was on me, though, because he quickly "snowballed" (:boo:) into a half-decent alien (I mean, just look at Paint Kirby). For whatever reason, I was wondering what a rainbow-themed alien would be like. Needing more than just a color scheme, I gave him the name "Rainbomb," leading to a body shape vaguely similar to Punchinello. Within the hour, though, Rainbomb "evolved" (:boo:) into Paintbomb.

I couldn't find a good effect for making his arms look like a clump of gray hairs, but I went with the best I could find. What really bugs me, though, is that no matter how many times I tweak it, Paintbomb's head looks more egg-like than sphere-like. Oh well. Better luck next time, eh?

I try to keep the bios official-sounding, so here's some things that I either couldn't mention or couldn't go into detail on:

*In case it isn't obvious, Paintbomb has Poo-style hair, which he often uses as a whip-paintbrush combo. He can - and often does - use his "fingers" as brushes, too.

*Paintbomb's name is not only a reference to the Pigmaspheres' bomb-shaped bodies, but also their "exploding paintballs" and Ultimate Paintbomb's "mega explosions" (Speaking of which, I'm considering turning his "hair" into a "fuse" when he's gonna blow).

*The whole concept of having Paintbomb made up of multiple smaller beings started when I imagined him having limbs made up of the same stuff paintbrushes are made from. At first he was simply going to be able to reattach his arm, much like Swampfire, but then I imagined Paintbomb's hand running away...

Redbomb: "Freedom!!!"
Ben/Paintbomb: "Hey! Get back here!"

*The six Pigmaspheres that Paintbomb is made up of are each a different color, although you can't tell from the picture. Needless to say (but I will anyway ;P -> :boo:), these are the colors of the rainbow. Also, I imagine that each of the "Colorbombs" (as I call them) has a different personality:

**Greenbomb is both the head and the leader, and is probably as close to "normal" Ben as any of them will get. I chose Greenbomb for this job because, well, green seems to be the "lucky color" of the series (or at least it's Ben's favorite).

**Purplebomb is, by far, the largest of the six, so he acts as the chest. I also decided to give him the same personality as The Brick: not very bright, but also very gentle and kind.

**Redbomb and Bluebomb are the right and left hands, respectively (a reference to another of my aliens, Flashfreeze). Redbomb is the team's hothead and often picks on Bluebomb, who's pretty timid and a bit of a crybaby.

**Yellowbomb lives life as if he's on a perpetual sugar high :woohoo: (although he isn't nearly as bad as Pepsqueak, thank God :phew:). He also happens to be one of the feet; I haven't decided which, although it doesn't really matter ;P

**Finally, there's the other foot, Orangebomb. Orange is infamous for not rhyming with anything, so I decided that Orangebomb would get ignored or interrupted all the time. That being said, even I don't know much about his personality, although I'm willing to bet (and would probably win ;P -> :boo:) that he's the smartest of the six.

*I think this trope was the inspiration for Ultimate Paintbomb's "living art" abilities. At first he was only going to be able to make small bouncing balls of animated paint-goo, but I decided to expand that into Technicolor birds, dogs, and maybe even a miniature Godzilla! ;P I guess this makes him a bit of a Minion Master (have I mentioned that my favorite Golden Sun boss is the Star Magician?), although I was worried that this would allow him to replace aliens like Ditto and Echo Echo. The paint-creatures' lack of intelligence makes up for this (I hope ^^;)

*Speaking of multipliers, Paintbomb has some similarities to another of my aliens, Ricochet. Much like Ricochet and Cannonbolt, the Colorbombs can roll around the battlefield. Unlike Cannonbolt and Ricochet, though, these guys can't bounce off the walls or anything, so the Colorbombs usually only roll around when they have to get somewhere quickly (they can't turn well, though) or squish something (Purpleball is usually the one to do this :w00t:)

*The whole "hardening brushes" ability is mostly so that Ultimate Paintbomb can detach his head and use it as a sword: The ball and ponytail are the hilt, while more strands grow out of the "neck" into the blade (Purplebomb takes over during this time).

Now, to finish off, we have an index of all my originals so far. Since I haven't mentioned this before (I think ^^;), I've chosen the File Numbers very carefully. My "original team" is 88040 to 88049 - I wanted it to start at a number above 10,000 (Y'know, Ben 10,000, and all that), but within the one million and some already in the Omnitrix (mentioned in the Alien Force season 2 finale). For my externally-acquired aliens (Sandstorm and Canvas), I figured their number would be above the one-million mark, so it really just became a question of how far above. Then there's Paintbomb, who's a "normal" unlockable, so he also got a number between 10,000 and one million, but from a different set than the others (I owe you a cookie if you can figure out why I chose the number I did ;P)
